Q: My son with autism becomes very scared about visiting the doctor for his yearly check-up. How can I prepare my son, as well as myself, for these important visits?

A: Visiting the doctor’s office, or any other health care professional for that matter, can be difficult for children with autism and their families: new situations, changes in schedules, unknown people and unusual procedures all add up to a potentially frightening experience. However, with some beforehand preparation, you can make your doctor visit far less traumatic for your child...and you!
