After becoming involved with us as a volunteer, Kara Greer has taken her support of Easter Seals Crossroads to a new level. Participating in the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon this fall, Kara, a graduate from Eastern Kentucky University, shared with us how she became involved with our organization and why she is running the event on our behalf.

Founded in 1929, Epsilon Sigma Alpha is an international service organization with both traditional and collegiate chapters who work to support their communities in any way they can. Since 1984, they've been a national partner with Easter Seals in more than 34 states and members have supported Easter Seals by volunteering time to help raise more than $5.7 million dollars nationally! Easter Seals Crossroads is the third largest recipient of funds from United Way of Central Indiana - there are many programs within our organization which would not be able to thrive without this support.

Easter Seals Crossroads wants to thank all of the volunteers who helped with the success of The Glo Run, a 5K fun run/walk that occurred Saturday, September 7 at White River State Park. Easter Seals Crossroads was the designated charity partner for the Indianapolis race and over 60 volunteers participated in various activities to help with the event on our behalf.

On Saturday, November 2, over 10,000 participants will be lacing up their shoes for the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon. Thoughts of accomplishment, ability and an "I CAN" attitude will be amidst the crowd, just like what our staff and consumers feel when they walk in our doors. We are proud to announce our official charity partnership with the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon for their 2013 event and details on our Crossroads Champions campaign!

Challenges brought on by aging and arthritis can make simple tasks difficult, such as opening a bottle of water or turning a door knob. Assistive technology devices are out there to help, but you need to know which ones are right for you and where you can find them. The INDATA Project is coordinating a full day training to provide that you can attend for free to learn about assistive technology for aging and arthritis.
